MOUNTS

In Palmistry, the mounts, or bumps of flesh, on the palm play a very important role during a readmg They arc related to the iufluenccs of the planets, which also tell us a lot about our physical and emotional makeup. There are seven mounts on the palms, and they are synonymous with the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, }uluter, Venus and Saturn, There is also a relationship to the other major and minor hues in the hand, for example, where the mounts may intersect with those hues. These mounts may be well developed and normally elevated, overly developed or flat and difficult to decipher, A mount that is normally elevated may indicate a well-balanced approach to life in relationship to the planet it represents. Flat mounts can signify an ' absence of the traits that correspond with the planet it represents. And finally, extremely raised or overly enlarged mounts may suggest an excess or exaggeration of:a mount's characteristics. Also keep in mind that there are many markings - chans, triangles, stars and grille marks - within the mounts that may vary the qualities that are associated with them.

Mount of Venus

Venus mount endows one with love, physical appearance, inclination for arts and beauty, sense of aesthetics, luxuries in life, love for good food and wine, sensualities, romance, compassion et el.

A well-balanced raised mount with pink tinge depicts well-balanced aspects in the above-mentioned fields.

An underdeveloped mount depicts the person lacking in all the faculties of Venus.

An overdeveloped Venus depicts the person`s overindulgence in food and sex. The physical passion can take the brutish force if the person`s hand has those qualities in overall reading.

Mount of Moon

The mount of moon shows our emotional side and thinking patterns, our imagination, creativity, sensitivity, intuitions, maternal instincts, harmony in relationships etc.

A well-balanced mount of Luna gives all round success in life, be it in business or personal. A balanced and creative life lays the foundation for a subject`s harmonious and accomplished life.

An underdeveloped mount shows the person to be unimaginative, non-intuitive, or emotionally cold.

An overdeveloped mount of Moon shows the person to be too creative and imaginative, extremely maternal and intuitive, with strong attraction towards water bodies,. The person can also be cold and vacillating (depends upon other indicators).

Mount of Jupiter

Mount of Jupiter in a palm represents fortune, confidence, a sense of authority, piousness, inclination towards religion, education, knowledge, optimism, ambition, integrity, compassion, expansion and justice.

A well-developed mount of Jupiter confirms the person to be well educated, of high esteem and character, honorable and ambitious with healthy self-confidence and optimistic attitude towards life.

An underdeveloped mount shows the person lacking in the above-mentioned qualities. The person is under confidant, pessimistic and have lesser prospects in life.

An overdeveloped mount shows extremes in ambition or ego, upto the point of being Vain.

Mount of Saturn

The mount of Saturn embodies all the astrological qualities of the planet. It showcases the tendencies of discipline and hard work in a person. Resolution, hard work, practicality, wisdom, longevity, a sense of responsibility, gloom, stamina, patience, reliability, caution, solitude and repression. All these qualities are attached with this mount.

It is usually desirable that this mount does not have its independent existence. The mount is better when merged with the other two side mounts.

Studying the middle finger does the assessment of the qualities of mount. If the middle finger is just a nail longer than index or ring finger, it shows balanced Saturn qualities.

In case of saturnine people, the mount is actually raised in the centre (i.e. having an independent existence). In that case, the attributes of the planet are quite prominent in the person.

If other palm features are indicative of an overall positive persona, then the person is responsible, wise and tenacious, though subjected to over caution, solitude and gloom.

In case the negative traits are indicated, the person is ambitious, cold and downright ruthless.

If the Saturn qualities are absent, that is the middle finger is shorter than required, then the person is totally frivolous.

Mount of Apollo

Sun is the creator of the self. It endows physical self, energy, vitality, creativity, generosity and compassion in our life. Sun is the symbol of success, power, and fame. Spine, fatherhood and children, illumination, light, soul, charisma, personal magnetism, strength, ruler-ship, majesty, authority, gold, dignity, originality, honour, fame, glory, fortune, extravagance, pride, arrogance, vanity, fire, and energy- all these are embodiment of the qualities of Sun.

The mount of Apollo in our palm shows the extent to which these very characteristics are developed.

A healthy looking, well-developed mount depicts a person enriched with all these attributes in a well-balanced ways.

An underdeveloped mount shows the person lacking in all these qualities.

An overdeveloped mount characterizes a person who is too arrogant, extravagant and vain.

He / she is the lover of him and himself only. They consider themselves to be the sole centre of existence and are self-centered and manipulative to the extreme.

Mount of Mercury

Mercury embodies intellect, communication skills, nervous system, travels, wit, shrewdness, versatility, reasoning, understanding, interest, education, grasping, mind etc. In hands dominated by negative aspects, it shows fickleness, superficiality, nervous disposition with a hyper tendency to criticize, and lack of emotions in a person.

Normally developed mount of mercury is indicative of caliber in communication and thinking, with good amount of interests and business sense.

A not so developed mount indicates a person who is unable to grasp things quickly, and is at loss with communication.

An overdeveloped mount depicts a person with great deal of nervous energy, astute business acumen, and extremely restless creative energy channelised into communication.

Mount of Mars

Mount of Mars is divided in two regions in the palm (as shown by the figure).

The upper mars, also known as the active mars, depicts vitality, courage, aggression, straightforwardness, leadership qualities, dynamism and drive. The negative qualities manifested by it are brutality, coarseness, foolhardy and immaturity.

A well-developed upper mount of mars represents the well-balanced qualities of the planet.

An underdeveloped mount depicts the person to be totally lacking in courage, vitality, drive and virility.

An overdeveloped Mars shows the person to be very courageous who thrives on adventures and excitement. If the other aspects of palm are not positive, then these very qualities may turn in brutal force and unnecessary aggression.

The Lower Mars, or Passive mars mount is as shown in the figure.

It depicts inner strength, stamina and courage.

A well-developed Lower Mars shows that the person has the caliber to go through the trying situations in life with aplomb.

An underdeveloped mount depicts the person to be cowardly and spineless.

An overdeveloped mount shows the person to have superhuman stamina and courage to face pain and sufferings in life.

MINOR LINES ON PALM

The palmistry minor lines, or secondary lines, can reveal an individual's ta}ents, interests, strengths and weaknesses. Their meanings can vary, dep ending on the hand shape, markings, mounts and the otherlines nearby or crossing over them. Minor lines can be very f aint or may not even be app arent, which is fairly common. If they do appear on the p aim, they will give the p aim reader a lot more insight into the subject. THREE MAJOR LINES ON PALM

THREE MAJOR LINES ON PALM

 Basically, the major hand lines represent physical energy (life line), mental energy (head line) and emotional energy (heart line) or, in simple terms, body, mind and soul. They are found on every hand, even if the heart line and head line are sometimes merged into one line, called the simian line.

The purpose of this article is to give you some basic information about each line, without going into too much detail. Your own hand lines may be different from what I have chosen to cover here, but most of the time, the following explanations will give you a good start in palm reading.

As a general rule that will help you interpret hand lines, remember that:
• Curved lines are seeking harmony and are flexible, and
• Straight lines are seeking order and are more rigid.

The Life Line

As shown on the illustration, the life line starts between the thumb and the forefinger and encircles the ball of the thumb towards the wrist.
This line, which deals with the way you apply your energy, is most frequently long and round, short, or diagonal.

The Life Line

If the line is continuous and round, without any break, you probably have a very harmonious physical life, and are happy to “go with the flow”.

If the line is rather short, it doesn’t mean you are going to die at a young age; it just means that there will be a time in your life when you will use your body in a different and less physical fashion than before, maybe because of a change in activity (from active to sedentary), the cessation of an occupation (retirement), or anything else that would modify the use of the body.

If the line is more straight than curved, you may have a tendency to go against the current and to hold on to things instead of letting go.

If the line is really diagonal, finishing on the other side of the hand, life will be seen more as a struggle and the need for excitement may be a big part of your life.

The Head Line

The second of the major hand lines is the head line, which crosses the middle of the palm horizontally. It reveals your ability to think rationally, to make decisions, to use your intelligence. It doesn’t show intelligence in itself – i.e., a long head line is not necessarily smarter than a short head line – but it shows how you apply it.

The Head Line

To simplify things, just check whether the line is long or short, curved or straight.

With a long head line, i.e., when the line ends below the baby finger, you won’t hesitate to try new things or take risks and will have a sense of purpose. You could even be very smart!

If the head line is short, i.e., if it terminates under the ring finger or even before, you will be more tempted to surround yourself with visible signs of security such as material possessions, money (more greed than need), a job that you may not like, etc.

A slightly curved head line shows flexibility of the mind. You are probably a good listener and able to react well to others’ opinions.

Finally, a very straight head line tends to make you unyielding. You may have a tendency to resist others’ ideas.

The Heart Line

Located just under the base of the fingers, the heart line shows emotions and feelings. A typical heart line could be long and curving upward, long and curving down, round and reaching between the index finger and the middle finger, or short.

The Heart Line

A long, continuous heart line that curves upward to reach the mount under the index finger (as shown on the illustration) indicates a great ability to love and express love with spontaneity. You have an open, sincere, and emotionally sound temperament.

If the line is long but it goes down towards the thumb, love will be more rational, i.e., you will need reasons to love and may expect a lot from your partner.

If your heart line is round and reaches between the index finger and the middle finger, you tend to be sentimental and you need to make sure your decisions are not ruled by your emotions.

When the line is short, i.e. it stops under the middle finger, or even the ring finger, you may be reluctant to show your feelings. You have a preference for physical passion, comfort, and sensual pleasures, over emotional depth.

Remember this is only a very brief presentation of the three major hand lines, which can take many, many forms and provide a lot more information than what I am presenting here.

History
No one can say for certain where palm reading originated. It is possible it came from the mysterious East, most probably India, or, because it was widely practiced in ancient Asia, some of its origins can be traced from those countries as well.

Many of the oldest writings and illustrations on palm reading are of Indian origins that seem to predate everything else that we know about. Palm reading was known as long as 5,000 years ago in the Middle East but not until much later on did the Western world start to record any knowledge of it. In western Europe and Britain specifically there are a small handful of very rare written records and a few drawings but they are difficult to date. In really ancient times, palm reading was largely a superstitution; no written rules were set down for anyone to learn, which meant that there was no method or system to be passed along. In these far-off days, few people were able to read and write anyway.

Early English written documentation is sketchy, not so much through a lack of knowledge but rather an inability to set down in writing anything clear-cut. In early Britain before 1066, the official written language was old English, and even that would have differed dialectically because the country was divided into many kingdoms. So, what we do know about reading hands was passed down by word of mouth and probably in secret because Mother Church did not approve.


The oldest know palm reading work in English language is a manuscript known as the Digby Roll IV, dated around 1440. It is a few strips of vellum sewn together in the style of the time, about 87 inches in length and about 8 inches in width.

The early fortune tellers would have used only the lines when they read the hands of their subjects. Chirognomy was not really developed properly until the middle of the 19th century, and we owe this to two Frenchmen, Casimir D’Arpentigny, who published LA Science de la Main in 1865, the definitive work on hand shapes, and Adrien Desbarrolles, who published Les Mysteres de la Main in 1859, based mostly on the study of lines of the hand. Dermatoglyphics also has its roots in the 19th century and was developed by Francis Galton. From Galton’s patient work came the fingerprinting system now used by police in criminal identification.

Hand reading is divided into three separate branches that make up the whole study:
Chirognomy: The study of the basic shape of the hands. Chiromancy: The study of the lines and other palm markings.

Chiromancy: This is the study of the lines of the hand without reference to any other feature of the palm. Any of the lines, especially the smaller influence marks, can change very easily at the time of a serious emotional incident. When an event such as this occurs and stirs the emotional nature it leaves its mark not only in the psyche but in the hands as well. Minor marks can come and go as and when the heart or mind needs to register such matters because of their importance, at the time or later when the full import of what has taken place has fully registered. Chiromancy is the original or true palm reading.
Chirognomy: This is the study of the shape of the hand and only really came into its own in the middle of the 19th century. This part of the discipline is concerned with the thickness and shape of the palm, thumb, and fingers, their relative lengths, tip formations, and flexibility. To this has been added a study of the nails and the way the hand may be used in gesture.
Dermatoglyphics: Specifically, this is the study of the fingerprints and the palmar skin patterns. These markings can never be destroyed or erased, but they may be disturbed by accident. There has never been a successful attempt to mutilate or destroy them by the criminal element in an effort to hide them. There are two basic types of palmar patterns; the open or coarse, and the closed, or refined. There are five basic skin patterns – the arch, tented arch, composite, loop, and whorl, and to these may be added occasional variations. Each has its own meanings and these are refined dependent on how they appear and where they are formed.
Gesture: It is only in recent times that a study of hand gestures has been added to hand analysis. It is not generally appreciated how much information may be given away by an individual’s sign language, either as the person speaks or with small silent movements that can mean so much.
